After hearing more and more about potential pranks at camp, I need to address the issue. Pranks of any kind cannot be part of the "tradition" of band camp anymore.
There has always been a fine line between what was an acceptable, fun, prank and what wasn't. Different people have different ideas as it pertains to this. The simple fact is I, as the director, must put the best interest and physical and psychological safety of ALL the students in the forefront. I will consider any prank as bullying and it will be dealt with under school policy as bullying.
Simply stated, pranks of any variety will no longer be acceptable at Pennfield Band Camp.
This will made repeatedly clear to students before we leave for camp, and again when we arrive. Please contact me if you have any questions.
